4th April 2025, Skopje – Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Institute of Accountants and Chartered Accountants, is actively working on promoting the accounting profession and its raising at a higher level, as stated by Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, during her address at the Second Regional Conference of Accountants and Chartered Accountants in the Republic of North Macedonia.

“Expertise, professionalism, and responsibility of the accounting profession are key tools in analyzing all data, which serve as the foundation when making sound business decisions. Professional and responsible accountant plays a crucial role in preparing and signing the annual account, the financial statements, and the tax returns, which are of vital importance for the economic growth. Therefore, the Institute of Accountants and Chartered Accountants plays a crucial part in promoting and elevating the accounting profession, creating accounting practices by applying internationally accepted standards from developed countries, which, in turn, impact the competitiveness of domestic companies, thus also opening opportunities for cooperation with the companies on a global scale”, Minister said, thereby highlighting the significance of accountants as the lifeblood of a company, whose skills contribute to the growth of businesses, as well as the overall economic growth.

She underlined that new Law on Accounting Practice is under preparation, being aligned with the EU Acquis, i.e. the Directive (EU) 2022/2464 on Corporate Sustainability Reporting (CSRD), as well as the international best practices and standards, while also striving to apply the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Standards, serving as a cornerstone in building sustainable businesses, becoming increasingly prevalent.

This Conference was held in Skopje, being organized by the Institute of Accountants and Chartered Accountants.
