6th May 2025, Skopje – Intensive cooperation between both Ministries in the field of tax policy and fight against financial crime has been arranged at the meeting between the Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska and the Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, alongside the Directors of Public Revenue Office, Elena Petrova and Financial Police Office, Slobodan Ivanovski.
Tax offices, as decided at the meeting in the Turkish Ministry of Finance, will engage in the direct exchange of information on tax risks, joint tax controls, and similar mutual activities aimed at monitoring associated taxpayers’ activities affecting tax payments in both countries.
The Minister highlights that the Public Revenue Office is crucial for budget revenue collection, and all ongoing activities and measures are noteworthy, aiming to enhance the tax collection efficiency, as well as put the international experience in practice.
In that context, the need for future cooperation between the Financial Police Office and the Financial Crime Investigation Department was determined, in way of sharing knowledge and experience on best practices. At the same time, the importance of quick and efficient data and information exchange has been emphasized, along with the need to build institutional capacities by sharing know-how and experience.
Both Ministers exchanged views on the current global developments and discussed measures to address the respective challenges.
Yesterday, Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, during her working visit to Türkiye, met the Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat, at the Ministry of Trade, while tomorrow, she will take part at the Eurasian Economic Forum. State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Andriana Matlioska, Chief of Cabinet and Special Advisor to the Minister of Finance, Katerina Antovska, as well as the Directors of the Public Revenue Office, Elena Petrova, the Customs Administration, Boban Nikolovski, and the Financial Police Office, Slobodan Ivanovski are also part of the Delegation led by the Minister.
