28th November 2020, Skopje – Implementing the Strategy for Economic Recovery and Intensified Growth – SmartER Growth, the Tax Strategy, as well as deepening the cooperation as regards FDIs, were the topics discussed during the meeting between Minister of Finance Fatmir Besimi and the Ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia, Georg Woutsas.

– Our main goal is implementing the economic growth model, which will provide for underpinning the achievement of twice higher growth compared to the last ten years, 4.1% GDP growth in 2021, 4.6% growth in 2022 and 5.9% growth in 2025. This will be possible to achieve by implementing the Strategy for Economic Recovery and Intensified Growth – SmartER Growth, being based upon four main pillars: economic recovery from COVID-19, intensified inclusive and sustainable economic growth, boosted competitiveness of the private sector and human resource development – Minister of Finance Besimi said.

He pointed out that gradual fiscal consolidation will be also carried out, by which the budget deficit will be reduced by 3.6 percentage points in the next year already. 

Austria’s confirmed its support for the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia.
