Completing the road and the railway infrastructure of Corridor VIII and Corridor X, construction of the national gas pipelines and investments in solid waste management systems, are the key priorities, which will be realized with EBRD financial support. This was underlined at the meeting between Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi and Zsuzsanna Hargitai, EBRD Regional Director for Western Balkans.
– What we need are projects that will provide for boosting the economic growth. By constructing Skopje – Blace Highway and Kicevo – Gostivar Highway Section, road Corridor VIII and Corridor X will be completed. Among the upcoming EBRD-funded projects are also Railways Corridor VIII Project, as well as the Project for Reconstruction of the Railway Line Skopje – Kicevo along Corridor VIII, whereas the Project for Construction of National Gas Pipeline Gostivar – Kicevo Section and Sveti Nikole – Veles Section, as well as the Interconnection Gas Pipeline between North Macedonian and Kosovo in the field of energy. These projects are given priority and they have to be realized – Minister Besimi pointed out.
Director Hargitai said that projects had to be prioritized, and they must be implemented quickly. She underlined that what matters was to realize the launched investments in road, railway and energy infrastructure, prioritize the new infrastructure projects, as well as involve the private sector in the infrastructure development.
