24th September 2025, Skopje – Positive performance in particular sectors is finally reflecting positive trends. I am pleased that, after a long period, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data demonstrate that the private sector is the main driving force behind economic growth in our country, with particularly significant contributions from construction and agriculture, as pointed out by Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska during her appearance on Business 21 on TV21, highlighting that today’s growth does not depend on public consumption, but rather on the activities and investments by private companies.
“What I find particularly encouraging and uplifting is the fact that the private sector provides for new opportunities, investments in the country’s development, and boosting economic productivity. Construction sector has recorded a notable growth, directly impacting the infrastructure development, while agriculture, after registering negative performance for many years, has demonstrated a positive trend for two quarters in a raw. This clearly indicates that we are on the right course, as the performance we delivered reflects the goals set by the Government,” the Minister stated.
She added that, despite the challenges in the public sector and the market constraints, private companies continue to drive the economy, contributing to the GDP stability and sustainability. "What I find especially positive is that growth is now driven by the private sector, which serves as the engine of the economy, rather than by public consumption as was the case in the past,” Dimitrieska-Kochoska said.
Minister underlined that the Government remains committed to creating conditions for further development of the private sector.
"We will keep creating a favourable business environment, making investments in support of innovations and job creation, while also preserving fiscal discipline. The private sector, in particular construction and agriculture, remain to be the key driving force of economic growth. We will persist in providing support to these sectors through precise measures and strategies,” she underlined.
"We anticipate that such positive dynamics will continue in the upcoming quarters, and the Government will remain focused on strengthening the economic fundamentals, supporting businesses, and fostering a favorable investment climate,” the Minister of Finance concluded. She went on that the private sector’s positive data also reflect the support companies received through the Hungarian Loan Facility, which will be made available via the Development Bank.
