20th July 2026, Skopje - At today’s extraordinary session, the Government adopted a Decision determining the types of energy products, the respective period, as well as the method of calculating the excise duty. This measure provides for cutting the excise duty on petroleum derivatives, thereby lowering the prices of gasoline and diesel. Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska‑Kochoska announced the Decision in a post on her Facebook profile, underscoring that the Government remains committed to pursuing a proactive approach in addressing the repercussions of the crisis in the Middle East.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and responding in a timely manner, with the aim of safeguarding the economy and the living standard of citizens,” Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska‑Kochoska stated in her post.
She highlighted that the excise duty cut will contribute to stabilizing the prices of petroleum products and, in turn, to maintaining the stability of other prices.
“We will uphold this responsible approach in the period ahead. We will monitor the developments and take timely, specific, and realistic measures to support the economy and the citizens, all to the end of safeguarding the living standard and preserving the economy, which has maintained a trajectory of accelerated growth since this Government took office,” the Minister stated in the post.
