Dimitrieska-Kochoska: Over the past period, we have worked diligently, delivering results in line with our plans

13th March 2026, Skopje – Budget is liquid. The funds have been provided in a timely manner, and there is room to implement additional measures if necessary. Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, pointed out in her guest appearance in “Samo Intervju” TV Show on TV 5 Channel.

“Over the past period, we have worked diligently and have yielded results in line with our plans. Citizens may remain reassured and at ease. The necessary funds were provided in a timely manner. The financing was provided under considerably more favorable terms and conditions. The Eurobond was issued at convincingly lowest interest rate", Minister of Finance stated,

thereby adding that despite the significant challenges, it is encouraging that Gross Domestic Product is showing growth. “This is important since all figures, including those related to public debt, are viewed as a percentage of GDP. The higher the GDP, the lower the public debt, which in turn creates room for additional borrowing should the need arise. What matters is the manner in which overall policy is pursued. In that regard, if required, assistance would be provided by reducing excise duties and taxes, which would result in lower Budget revenues. Nonetheless, we will take appropriate action, as there is still room for certain measures, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska pointed out.

The Minister expects that the policies and decisions this Government is adopting now will have a tangible impact later, noting that, in economics there is a phenomenon known as a time lag, meaning that economic growth requires consistency over several years.

In the interview, she stated that she does not consider the revenue projections to be overly optimistic and drew a comparison between revenues in 2025 and 2017, which collection accounted for 95.91% of the projections in 2025 and 95.81% in 2017. On the expenditure side, she stressed that all expenditures have been executed, with all liabilities being settled, including the payment orders related to the capital expenditure execution.

All payment orders submitted to the Treasury Department within the Ministry of Finance, are executed on regular basis and in compliance with the set guidelines,” the Minister clarified.
