10th September 2025, Skopje - By being one of the key priorities of the Government and the Ministry of Finance, support for sports remains at the core of this Government’s agenda.
“Investing in sports fosters a healthy nation, with the sports being the primary means to achieve this goal. If we are willing to build a strong economy, we must first foster a healthy nation, characterized by discipline, dedication and a drive to succeed,” Minister said, participating today in the Regional Sport Summit “Skopje 2025”, under the motto “Sports as a Symbol of National Identity and a Path for the Future”.
Minister’s speech at the third panel discussion, covered the topic: the future of sports: national strategy, investments, and innovations.
Minister stated that providing access to sports for every child is of essential importance, as reflected in ongoing investment in school sports development.
“The Government provides considerable support for the sports sector. We are aware of the current state of the Budget, however, despite all the challenges we face, the budget funds allocated for sports are twice the amount in 2025 compared to 2023. In fact, in 2019, Denar 300 million was allocated, increasing to Denar 550 million in 2023, while this year, Denar 1.2 billion has been set side therefor”, Minister said.
She recalled the legal provisions through which sports can be supported by economic entities, thereby announcing that, in the coming period, various laws will be reviewed from multiple perspectives, including the aspect concerning the support of sports in general.
She noted that the Law on Games of Chance is pending parliamentary procedure, as per which, the organizers of games of chance are required to pay a fee to the Ministry of Sports. By pointing out that Denar 200 million is generated on this basis, she anticipates for this figure to rise going forward.
Minister’s speech at the panel discussion pertained to sponsorships in the field of sports, in view of exploring methods to establish profitable partnerships.
