Dimitrieska-Kochoska at “Textilijada” in Shtip: Government remains committed to supporting the private sector

3rd October 2025, Shtip –Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, gave a speech at “Textilijada” event in Shtip today, thereby stressing the commitment of both the Government and the Ministry of Finance to supporting the real sector and the textile industry, which employs over 25,000 people.

“Textile industry has always played a significant role in Macedonian economy. This industry holds importance not only in economic terms, but also from social and gender perspectives. However, we must be realistic, this sector faces considerable challenges, and the Government is dedicated to making every effort to secure a stable and modern future”, the Minister pointed out.

She reiterated that EUR 250 million has been projected in 2025 Budget, geared towards supporting investment projects by domestic companies, which is expected to initiate a new investment cycle worth approximately EUR 300 million. Funds have been provided under favourable terms and conditions through the Hungarian Loan Facility extended by the Hungarian Export-Import Bank, and to date, total of EUR 190.5 million has been made available to the domestic economy via the Development Bank, with a portion allocated to the textile sector as well.

These funds provide for boosting a new investment cycle, resulting in increased production, greater productivity, and higher wages. We acknowledge that this alone cannot address every issue, but it constitutes a meaningful step forward in the stabilization and modernization of the industry”, Dimitrieska-Kochoska added.

In her address, she also emphasized the importance of the Law on Financial Support of Investments, which is implemented through the Ministry of Economy and Labor, as per which, assistance is provided transparently to both domestic and foreign companies, aimed at boosted job creation, modern equipment, research and development, as well as strengthened cooperation with local suppliers. This Law, in particular, provides for scaled-up investments in less developed regions, thus contributing to balanced development.

“Our aim is to transform Macedonia’s textile industry from a symbol of low wages into a showcase of modern technology, innovations, and a fashion brand that earns recognition beyond our national borders. Government remains committed to supporting this sector with a view to ensuring higher wages, better working conditions, and stability for the families depending thereon,” the Minister stated.
