15th November 2025 - Next year’s judiciary budget is projected rationally, within the legal limits, while still pursuing fiscal consolidation. Ongoing analyses are determining the share of budget funds to be allocated to the judiciary, in line with the EU practice, Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska underlined in an interview on Sitel TV Newcast.
"In 2025, the judiciary budget amounted to Denar 2,858,000,000, and following the Supplementary Budget, it stands at Denar 2,748,000,000. As for the upcoming year, the budget is projected at the same level, while the judiciary requested Denar 5,229,000,000. It is worth mentioning that, as per the Organic Budget Law, each budget user is allocated a limit by the Ministry of Finance, which must be adhered to when projecting budget expenditures. The limit for the judiciary was Denar 2,995,000,000,” the Minister stated.
As regards wages, the Minister emphasized that the judiciary’s wage budget for 2025 is projected in the amount of Denar 2,334,000,000, while the judiciary’s new budget requests amounted to Denar 3,751,000,000, i.e. nearly Denar 1,417,000,000 higher than the present amount.
“Amid ongoing fiscal consolidation, and unlike the previous period when spending exceeded permitted limits, it is now essential to steer the country onto the right course and achieve a 3% budget deficit for the coming year. The same applies to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Ombudsman’s Office - limits, budget requests, and differences in amounts can be presented for each institution,” the Minister said, adding that the foundation when calculating this percentage must be attentively appraised.
“It is not enough to simply quote “0.3%, 0.4%, or 0.8%” – it is essential to clarify which revenues or funds these percentages are based on.” We are currently carrying out thorough analyses to determine the exact share of budget funds that will be allocated to the judiciary and the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Our goal is to ensure rational employment of funds and their transparent planning within the legal limits,” the Minister concluded.
