Dimitrieska-Kochoska - Kamenický: The Slovak Republic will share its experience on reform implementation with Macedonia

7th May 2026, Bratislava – The Slovak Republic and Macedonia hold vast potential to deepen their economic cooperation. The Slovak Republic stands as a strong advocate of Macedonia’s EU integration, supporting the implementation of reforms aligned with this process and sharing its own experience. This was noted during the tête-à-tête meeting between the Minister of Finance of Macedonia, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, and her counterpart and host, the Minister of Finance of the Slovak Republic, Ladislav Kamenický.

During the meeting, it was underscored that the Slovak Republic is keen to share its know-how with Macedonia in fields where it considers itself most experienced, which are of crucial significance for our country in fulfilling the required EU criteria.
Discussion reaffirmed Slovak Republic’s readiness to share know‑how in the field of public finance and public investments, as well as in combatting tax evasion.

The considerable support provided for implementing the National Development Strategy was highlighted, as it serves as a cornerstone in shaping the future development policies.

As pointed out by the Minister, the Government and the Ministry of Finance remain committed to maintaining macroeconomic stability and public finance stability, pursuing gradual fiscal consolidation, and achieving higher economic growth rates, also driven by public investments.

The Minister underlined that the reforms and steps are priorities in the Government’s agenda, being also part of the measures and policies addressed during yesterday’s Brussels meetings.

The participants concluded that the economic cooperation between the two countries should be deepened, and that in this regard, it is essential to further strengthen business connectivity, coupled by exchange of information, and implementation of joint projects.

Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska is currently undertaking a two‑day working visit to the Slovak Republic at the invitation of the Minister of Finance, Ladislav Kamenický. Delegations of both countries and state secretaries from the respective ministries of finance will hold bilateral meetings as part of the visit.

Ministers Dimitrieska‑Kochoska and Kamenický will hold a joint press conference.
