14th May 2026, Skopje – In the face of profound global transformations, the world must embrace a new vision for development, anchored in the integration of economy, ecology, and human responsibility. Environmental issues are existential in nature, exerting a profound impact on economic stability, energy security, public finances, and the future of our societies. The green economy stands as the economy of the future. This was the message conveyed by Deputy Minister of Finance, Nikolche Jankulovski, at the 29th Eurasian Economic Forum, organized by the Marmara Group Foundation in Istanbul.
“Today, we live in an era of profound global transformations. In recent years, the world has been shaken by a pandemic, energy crisis, inflationary pressures, geopolitical conflicts, and climate change. All these challenges directly affect both the economies and the citizens' quality of life. Against such a backdrop of prolonged and continuous crises having significantly affected public finances, the responsibility of governments is even greater in striking a balance between these challenges and the need for fiscal consolidation,” Deputy Minister Jankulovski stated during the session dedicated to global responsibility and the challenges facing the modern world, titled ‘Living on a Planet Where Water is Depleting and Green Spaces Are Disappearing.”
He underscored that the Government remains strongly committed to preserving macroeconomic stability, fiscal discipline, and economic development, and that, in this regard, the Ministry of Finance plays a key role in shaping policies that ensure a stable Budget, support the economy, and foster investments in the future. He also pointed out that environmental issues are existential in nature, exerting a profound impact on economic stability, energy security, public finances, and the future of our societies.
In his address, he highlighted that in recent years, substantial Budget funds have been allocated to capital investments in the fields of infrastructure, energy, digitalization, education, and green transition, with particular emphasis placed on energy independence and scaling up investments in renewable energy sources, as the green economy is shaping the economy of future.
“Today, more than ever, humanity stands in need of a new vision for development—one that unites the economy, ecology, and human responsibility. We cannot meaningfully discuss economic growth without placing sustainability at its core. The future cannot be envisioned without investing in the younger generations. Global stability cannot be envisioned without mutual trust and cooperation,” Deputy Minister of Finance, Nikolche Jankulovski, pointed out.
