15th October 2026, Skopje - Deputy Minister of Finance, Nikolche Jankulovski, took part in the validation workshop under the Biodiversity Finance Initiative BIOFIN, organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning.
The workshop focused on the analysis of the existing biodiversity spending, the assessment of the financing needs and the preparation of the National Biodiversity Finance Plan.
Jankulovski underlined the importance of linking environmental protection policies with the budget planning, ensuring both efficient use of public funds and sustainable sources of financing.
“Nature conservation is an investment in the future. Through sound public finance management, efficient use of resources and enhanced institutional cooperation, we are laying the groundwork for sustainable financing for biodiversity and preservation of our natural heritage”, Jankulovski stated.
The Ministry of Finance remains committed to advancing budget planning and institutional cooperation to support the integration of biodiversity conservation priorities into public policies and financial processes.
Among the speakers at the event were the Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Ane Lashkoska, and UNDP Resident representative, Armen Grigoryan. Prime Minister’s Special Adviser, Prof. Dame Dimitrovski, Ph.D., also took part in the workshop.
