19th May 2025, Skopje – There are no delays in the VAT refund to the companies. Additional analyses are carried out only at companies flagged as risky by the system, as underscored by Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, in her guest appearance in “360 Stepeni” TV Show.
“There are no delays in the VAT refund to the companies, with the payments being paid on a regular basis by the Ministry of Finance. No tax abuses were found among the well-established companies, and payments are being made as scheduled. However, there are issues with other companies”, the Minister said.
She underlined that the Public Revenue Office, with the support of the International Monetary Fund and the US Treasury, developed indicators to identify companies with specific issues, or those being risky, a process not being implemented before. Additional controls are being performed on the respective companies flagged by the system as having a particular risk.
She highlighted that numerous cases of tax abuses were detected and the system helped safeguard the country from losses amounting to millions of euros. At present, as stated, investigative proceedings are underway for six companies implicated in major VAT tax refund abuses.
