Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) is a multilateral development bank with social vocation (www.coebank.org). Seated in Paris, established in 1956 by 8 Member States of the Council of Europe, CEB is the oldest multilateral financial institution in Europe. Today, CEB counts 41 Member States, among which the Republic of North Macedonia as well.

CEB managing bodies are the following: Management Board, Administrative Council, Governor and Audit Board.

Republic of North Macedonia became CEB Member State in 1997, thus acquiring the right to borrow from this financial institution. In addition, Republic of North Macedonia assigned its representative to the Administrative Council, as well as the Bank Management Board, bodies actively participating in the decision – making process.

CEB represents financial solidarity among the European countries. Analysis of activities undertaken during the last years indicates that there are four main sectors, in which the Bank acts:

  • strengthening social integration;
  • environmental management;
  • support to public infrastructure with social vocation;
  • support to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs.).
