19th March 2021, Skopje – Collection of budget revenues since the beginning of the year is even higher compared to the pre-crisis period last year. Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi, as a guest on Sitel TV News, underlined that collection of budget revenues since the beginning of this year by mid-March inclusive was higher by 3.1% compared to the same period last year, while collection of tax revenues surged by 4.2%.
– The Budget is in a good condition, with the liabilities being settled on regular basis and in a timely manner. Total revenues experienced 3.1% growth, tax revenues picked up by 4.2%, with VAT and CIT collection also surging, and contribution collection increased by 3.7%. For the sake of clarity, the comparison is made with a period when the COVID-19 crisis effects were not yet felt. The trend is in line with our projections, Besimi said.
The Minister pointed out that despite the risks in terms of protraction of the health crisis, the performance since the beginning of this year speaks of attainment of the baseline scenario for 4.1% economic growth in 2021. Should the crisis protract and the pessimistic scenario materializes, growth will slow down, but it will still be in the positive zone.
As regards the Supplementary Budget, the Minister underlined that when this year’s Budget was adopted, Supplementary Budget was announced for the mid-year, which was actually a practice even in the crisis-free years, aimed at optimizing the revenue and the expenditure sides in line with the actual needs.
