26th May 2023, Tivat – Implementing Projects in the country, incorporated under the Country Partnership Framework 2019-2023 and the ongoing activities aimed at continuing and deepening this cooperation were the topics of discussion at today’s meeting held between Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi, WB Vice President Antonella Bassani and IFC’s Vice President for Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Alfonso Garcia Mora.

Infrastructure projects, construction of local roads, modernization of education and digitilization are only some of the areas, the Country Partnership Framework is focused on. Significant support is extended to the energy sector, in particular by increasing the energy efficiency, an area to be among the priority ones in future, all to the end of overcoming the challenges posed by the energy crisis, as well as the effects of the climate changes.

“Attentive identification of the priorities is most significant for successfully implementing the new Framework, as well as accomplishing the set goals. Priorities to be included in the new Country Partnership Framework should reflect the priorities as defined by the Government in the national strategic documents and the Growth Acceleration Plan, incorporating the key reforms jointly adopted with the European Union, which implies getting the country closer to the EU more quickly”, Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi said.

Areas identified as the basis for the future cooperation are ensuring sustainable municipal development, improved air quality, digital development and energy transition.

During the meeting, it was also confirmed that the policies the Government implements provide for sustainability in the medium run. Such policies underpinned with substantial investment projects and implementation of reforms, will contribute to accelerated economic growth.

This meeting was also attended by Governor Anita Angelovska – Bezhoska at the Margins of the IMF and WB Constituency Meeting, taking place in Tivat, Montenegro.
