4th October 2024, Skopje – During her working visit in Washington D.C., Minister of Finance, Gordana Dikitrieska-Kochoska, had a meeting with Alexander Kasanof, newly elected Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Western Balkans in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, the U.S. Department of State. He is the successor of Gabriel Escobar.

Topics of discussion were the prevalent political and economic developments in the country. The Minister touched upon the mechanisms for both tackling corruption and strengthening the institutions’ capacities. She also emphasized the efforts being made in terms of boosting the economic growth, which will contribute to better living standard of the citizens.

Support and partnership between the USA and the Republic of North Macedonia in providing the country’s development and continuation of the reforms within the EU accession process were also reflected on during the meeting. Approval by the European Union of the Reform Agendas of the Western Balkan countries, including our country as well, which underpin the acceleration of the EU accession process of the countries in the region, was acknowledged.

Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, participates in the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, which take place in Washington.
