26th April 2025, Skopje – The Government establishes partnership with the World Bank in implementing the defined policies and priorities aimed at improving the living conditions and strengthening the institutions’ capacities. Country Partnership Framework 2024 – 2028, extending US 695 million as support to improving the quality of public service delivery, creating more productive private sector jobs and increasing climate resilience, is aligned with the country’s development agenda, Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, pointed out at the meetings with World Bank Executive Director, Eugene Rhuggenaath, the Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank, Antonella Bassani, World Bank Country Director for the Western Balkans, Europe and Central Asia, Xiaoqing Yu, as well as World Bank Country Manager, Massimiliano Paolucci.  Governor of the National Bank, Anita Angelovska-Bezhoska, also attended the meetings.

“World Bank is our partner in implementing projects aimed at improving the infrastructure, also working alongside us in tackling many challenges in the field of social services, healthcare, introduction of new technologies, etc. Currently, work is underway on 10 projects, financed by the World Bank in the amount of US 468 million, aimed at improving local roads connectivity, public sector energy efficiency, Western Balkans trade and transport facilitation, road upgrading and development, social services improvement, agriculture modernization, primary education improvement, etc.”, the Minister said.

During the meetings, the World Bank’s ongoing support for our country was reaffirmed, highlighting that this support will continue moving forward, in line with the priority areas the Government will define. Project implementation will be outlined in the Country Partnership Framework.

The meetings were held within the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings, taking place from 21st to 26th April in Washington D.C.. While in Washington, the Minister also met high officials from the IMF, the US Treasury and the multinational financial corporations. Earlier, the Minister visited Chicago and met with representatives of the Macedonian diaspora there. During the meetings, the Minister highlighted the goals of the fiscal policy, the fiscal consolidation efforts and the commitment to attaining higher economic growth rates.
