Skopje, 3rd March 2015 (MIA) – Positive trends in the construction industry are expected to continue in the next period as well.
Support through the Government’s measures and activities, will, as in the previous period, continue this year as well with Budget funds for capital projects, as well as under the “Buy A House, Buy a Flat” Project, thus providing working opportunities for the construction companies, which also expect for the construction sector to continue experiencing growth.
This was pointed out at the opening ceremony of the 12th International Fair of Construction, Building Materials and Construction Machinery and the 5th Real Estate and Investments Exhibition, to be held at Skopje Fair in the period 3rd March – 7th March, gathering all those involved in the construction industry at one place.
– Construction is an exceptionally significant branch in terms of the volume of operations and the number of employed persons, as well as given its significance to the economy and the life of citizens. Therefore, the Government, in the past years, was helping the construction, investing significant amount of funds through capital investments, thus providing for job opportunities for the domestic construction companies, Stavreski said, adding that this year, EUR 340 million is envisaged in the Budget for this purpose, which together with the funds from the Public Enterprise for State Roads reach EUR 600 million allocated for infrastructure projects.
According to him, construction sector in Macedonia, unlike the negative trends in SEE, advances and yields positive results every year, which contributed to both 4.4% growth of construction in the first nine months last year and creation of new 4,000 jobs.
Ministry of Finance participates for the first time at this Fair through the “Buy A House, Buy a Flat” Project, which according to the Minister, became a symbol of the state’s assistance in the development of the construction sector, thus boosting the market, being proved by the reduction of the price of flats in Skopje to approximately EUR 900 from the previous EUR 1,000 per square meter.
– This means that we managed to bring the flats closer to the citizens’ standard, by which they could participate in the Project, thus leading to reducing the banks’ interest rates by more than 3%, meaning lower costs for citizens and bigger sale of the flats. All this is in favour of the citizens since they manage to solve their housing issue, Minister of Finance stressed.
President of the Construction Chamber within the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce Robert Hot said that the construction sector in the past years was driving force of Macedonian economy, and all commenced projects confirm that this trend and growth would resume in future as well.
As for the prices of the flats, the representatives of the construction companies pointed out that they would not decrease.
Hot stressed that the construction companies building the flats reached the limit of lowering the prices.
Construction companies offer high-quality flats, the sale of which is more and more increasing.
Zoran Azmanov from Nastel, a company, which today with Sparkasse Bank promoted mutual offer, pointed out that they managed to sell up to 200 flats per year.
Vanco Cifliganec, ADORA Engineering Director General underlined that their sale increased by 10% to 15% annually and that last year, this sale surged by 26%.
Bankers expect for the sale of flats to continue depending on whether the economy will expand or stagnate.
– Taking into account both the encouraging signals coming from Europe and the highest level of economic activity in Macedonia, once can assess that we are far beyond the bottom and that better days are coming, the Director General of Sparkasse Bank Macedonia Gligor Bisev said.
More than 300 companies participate at the Fair, having 3 halls, where products and services for working, maintenance, modernization, renewal and equipping of facilities are offered.
