11th July 2018, Skopje – Gostivar has received a grant in the amount of EUR 4.6 million from the Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs (SECO) for enhancing the water supply and sewage infrastructure therein.  Today, Agreement was signed in the Ministry of Finance, by which this grant is made available to this Municipality. Agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski, the Minister of Transport and Communications Goran Sugareski, the Director of the Public Utility Enterprise Komunalec – Gostivar Isak Lazami and the representative Rene Eschemann from KfW bank as manager of the grant funds.

Total amount to be invested in improving the utility infrastructure in Gostivar is EUR 7.2 million. These funds will be used for procuring equipment for detection of water leak, thus reducing the water losses, whereby funds are also envisaged for new reservoirs, new pipelines, as well as network improvements.

In addition to the Swiss grant, for the purpose of realizing this Project, Gostivar will also receive a KfW grant in the amount of EUR 250 thousand, as well as a Government loan, in the amount of EUR 1.7 million. In addition, the municipality will invest EUR 682 thousand of own funds in the project.

KfW will soon allocate grant funds for utility projects for Radovis and Kavadarci Municipalities as well.
