Skopje, 21st July 2015 (MIA) – Government paid the social assistance and permanent financial assistance to socially vulnerable categories increased by 10%, as well as the allowance to foster families, increased by 25%. Increased social assistance was paid 10 days ago, while permanent financial assistance and the allowance for foster families were paid on Monday.
Promise made by the Government to social assistance beneficiaries and families taking care of children without parents, was fulfilled, and this support will continue in future as well. This was pointed out by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski and Minister of Labour and Social Policy Dime Spasov during their visit to the Daily Center for Children with Cerebral Palsy.
– Yesterday, the allowance was paid to families taking care of children without parents, being increased by 25%, previously amounting from Denar 6,000 to Denar 8,000, and ranging from Denar 8,000 to Denar 10,000 at present. At the same time, we started the payment of the 10% increased social assistance and permanent financial assistance to around 35,000 beneficiaries. Instead of the 5% increase as promised, we managed to increase the social assistance and permanent financial assistance by 10%, and thus, we have helped these people by providing them with greater financial support from the Government, Stavreski said.
He went on that the Government will continue to support the socially vulnerable categories in all spheres, announcing another increase of the social assistance and permanent financial assistance next year.
He underlined that the Government takes constant care of the other vulnerable categories as well, by mentioning once again the reduced prices of the pharmaceuticals, the provision of health care to social assistance beneficiaries, pensioners and similar. Significant amount of Budget funds is allocated for the social sector, and we will be able to provide sufficient funds for all socially vulnerable categories under this year’s Budget, as well as the next year’s budgets, Stavreski said.
According to Minister Spasov, by paying the increased permanent financial assistance and the allowance for foster families, the Government continues to realize the promised projects, such as increased social protection and social security, thus reducing the social exclusion of the most vulnerable categories in the Republic of Macedonia.
– Increase of social assistance is additional support to the most vulnerable citizens capable of work, but financially insecure and today, we are making additional efforts by paying the increased permanent financial assistance to financially insecure citizens who are incapable of work, as well as the 25% increase of the allowance for families taking care of children without parents and parental care, children with development impairments and children with educational and social problems, Spasov said.
MLSP, as Spasov added, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, will continue to further provide huge support to the most vulnerable categories of citizens, those in need of additional financial support, as well as suitable non-institutional protection.
