Skopje, 15th February 2014 (MIA) -Ministry of Finance, as of yesterday, paid Denar 1,2 billion as subsidies for produced and sold tobacco from 2013 harvest to 27,000 farmers.
Financial support for this measure amounts to Denar 60 per kilogram of produced and sold tobacco.
Subsidies were paid to tobacco growers who handed over tobacco to the ten registered tobacco companies such as “Alliance One”, “Sokotab Bitola”, “Strumica Tabak,” “Tutunski Kombinat Prilep”, “Centro Tobako”, “Dalija Tabak”, “Orbita Tabak”, “Pasoski”, “Tomi-Mit Jaka Tobako” and “Kaveks Balkan”.
As Ministry of Finance announced, the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, by regularly paying subsidies to farmers, remains committed to supporting the agriculture, which is one of the driving branches of Macedonian economy.
