Skopje, 18th June 2012 (MIA) – Republic of Macedonia and the Russian Federation, including the Moscow Region, foster excellent relations, it was concluded Monday in Moscow at the meeting between Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Sergey Shoygu, Governor of the Moscow Region, being a region in the Russian Federation with more than seven million citizens.
As announced in a government press release, Prime Minister Gruevski introduced his counterpart with the economic objective of the visit to the Russian Federation and the meetings with the Russian companies, potential investors in the Republic of Macedonia. He emphasized the benefits Macedonia offered to the potential investors, underlining the support the state offered to the investors in technological and industrial development zones, low tax package, positive macroeconomic indicators, access to qualified labour force and market of 700 million consumers, provided under free trade agreements with all European countries.
Governor Shoygu expressed his contentment with the possibility to meet the government delegation, pointing out that now, when the local authorities were introduced the positive opportunities, one can expect progress in the cooperation between the companies in both countries. He pointed out readiness to ensure conditions for trade and investments by Macedonian companies, interested in covering the Moscow Region, above all pharmaceutical industry and trade in agricultural products.
“Shoygu expressed preparedness to make efforts to boost trade and economic cooperation between the two countries in the period to come, underlining that the information received promised development of new perspectives”, press release stated.
At today’s meeting, Macedonia and Moscow Region signed an Agreement on Trade, Industrial, Scientific, Cultural and Educational Cooperation. Both parties said that the signed Agreement provided for new quality of the relations and strengthened the possibility to intensify and specify the cooperation in these fields of mutual interest. Possibility to sign such agreement in the field of tourism was also discussed.
