Prilep, 16th March 2016 (MIA) – Works on one of the most crucial projects in the region, the waste water treatment plant in Prilep are smoothly carried our, and according to the weather conditions, we expect for it to be completed in the course of this year, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski said at today’s visit to the locations, where the works are carried out.
– As a result of the wastewater treatment plant as one of the major projects, together with the rehabilitation of the sewage network, the issue related to treatment of wastewater in the City of Prilep will be resolved once and for all. It is a mater of Project funded under EU IPA Program co-financed with Macedonian Government, in the total amount of EUR 26 million, out of which EUR 10 million is intended for the waste water treatment plant, while EUR 16 million is aimed at rehabilitating the sewage network. It should be completed by the end of this year, while the rehabilitated 65-km sewage network should be completed by Spring 2017, Stavreski said.
According to the Mayor of Prilep, Marjan Risteski, this Project, together with the projects for water supply and construction of factory for waste selection, the life of citizens of Prilep is improved.
– This Project, financed with both EU and Budget funds is one of the most significant projects in Prilep. After resolving the water supply issue, resolution of the problem related to wastewater treatment will be of great importance, which will all contribute to better living conditions in the coming period in Prilep. Construction of factory for waste selection is the next Project to be realized. Given all these three Projects, Prilep will be among those cities, where activities will be carried out at European level, Risteski said.
Director of PE “Water Supply and Sewage” of Prilep, coordinating the activities for constructing waste water treatment plant, Saso Nikoloski stressed that the deadlines for both rehabilitating the sewage network and constructing the waste water treatment plant will be observed.
– Both activities are ongoing, such as reconstructing the sewage network and constructing the waste water treatment plant. First phase of constructing the 23-kilometer sewage network has been completed, and the second phase of constructing another 45 kilometers of the sewage network commenced. Activities for constructing the plant will be intensified, which will be completed by the end of this year, Nikolovski said.
Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Stavreski also visited the plants of the textile factory “Triteks” in Prilep, also building a new plant in the industrial zone “Prilep1”, thus expanding its capacities, employing new workers and increasing the exports to foreign markets.
This afternoon at 15:30 pm. Stavreski also promoted the Young Individuals and Couples Housing Project in the big hall of the local government, for which 370 lots in “Gradina” settlement in Prilep have been offered.
