Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Zoran Stavreski was on two-day working visit to the Republic of Turkey. Vice Prime Minister Stavreski attended SEE Annual Meeting of Ministers of Finance and Economy. This year’s meeting addressed assessment of global crisis impact in the region and strengthening regional cooperation as way to overcome pending challenges.
 
Cooperation between SEE countries in various areas was also discussed at the Meeting, paying special emphasis to road infrastructure and energy projects.
During SEE Ministerial Meeting, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Zoran Stavreksi presented performance of the Macedonian economy in 2009 and 2010 projections.
 
Thereby, comparative analysis with the countries in the region shows that Macedonia has been more successful in coping with the consequences of the global economic crisis in relation to other countries, i.e. it had lower GDP decline, lower budget deficit and experienced less consequences from the crisis on both the real sector and the labor market. Expected recovery of the economy in 2010 includes maintenance of moderate fiscal support and continuation of reforms and measures aimed at underpinning the economy.
 
During this event, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Stavreski had bilateral meetings with the Vice Prime Minister of Turkey, Ali Babacan, as well as Ministries and Deputy Ministries of Finance of Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Montenegro and Moldavia.
