17th February 2023, Skopje – Solution for payment of wages in the health sector has been found, even if the system problem the Health Insurance Fund faces is not resolved by Monday. During his guest appearance on the National TV – MTV, Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi, said that should HIF not resolve the problem with the hacked system by Monday, funds will be transferred directly from the Central Treasury, with the amount to be offset from the Fund’s budget subsequently.

“Technical problem HIF’s system faces is obvious, hence is the problem with the payment of the wages to the health workers. Needless to say, it is a matter of a hybrid war, which does not happen only in our country. Should the problem with the HIF’s system not be resolved soon (in a day or two), wages will be paid from the Central Treasury, with the amount to be offset from the Fund’s budget subsequently. I have to underline that HIF has a separate system for payments from the Treasury, hence the solution has been found outside the regular procedures, yet within the legal regulations”, Besimi said.

Asked if there are sufficient funds to make wage payments in the health sector, the Minister pointed out that the Budget is liquid, and the budget revenues are higher by 10% since the beginning of this year by mid-February inclusive compared to the same period last year.
