4th October 2024, Skopje – “Tax policy reform – a driving force for achieving SDGs and national priorities in line with the National Development Strategy” was the topic of today’s workshop, which took place in Skopje, organized by the UNDP in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, the Public Revenue Office and the General Secretariat, as well as the UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub and UNDP Europe and Central Asia.
“Today, we have discussed the key role of tax policy in the context of sustainable development and implementation of the National Development Strategy. Our goal is to strengthen economic resilience and create conditions for innovation and sustainability through structural changes in the tax system”, Deputy Minister of Finance, Nikolche Jankulovski, said in his address.
It is necessary, as he said, to integrate the principles of sustainable development in our tax policy, which will provide for financing projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Initiatives such as TAX4SDGS and TAXANDS will help mobilize resources, thereby encouraging investments in green technologies and social programs.
“Cooperation among all stakeholders will contribute to creating an inclusive and just tax system, which will underpin our priorities and provide for economic growth and social justice”, Jankulovski pointed out.
