22nd November 2024, Skopje – Public Revenue Office plays a significant role in Budget revenue collection, while ensuring fair principles and procedures when carrying out its tasks and responsibilities, Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska said at the debate on the topic “Additional Tax Revenues for a Wealthier Society – Perceptions and Perspectives”, organized on occasion of Tax Workers’ Day.
“Our commitment as Government, since taking office, is combatting the informal economy, an area we are to give priority to, thus generating revenues to be an additional input in pursuing the respective policies, which imply improved infrastructure, better health services, improved education, improved social services, higher living standard for the citizens, higher economic growth”, Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska said.
She highlighted that Public Revenue Office takes appropriate measures, providing for greater revenue collection efficiency, as evident from the data on tax revenue growth of 14.4%.
“Total 2024 budget revenues recorded a growth of 11.2%, with tax revenues surging by 14.4%. It is worth noting that in July this year, PRO’s tax and contribution collection was higher by 31%, being higher by 12.5% in August, while recording 18.7% growth in September, compared to the respective months last year. Such dynamics and trends will continue in the follow-up period as well, with the aim of attaining the projections on increased revenues by 12.8% in the following year, based primarily on the efficient revenue collection, as well as the fight against the informal economy, rather than being conditioned on the inflation, which is to attain the all-time low rate of 2.2% next year”, Minister of Finance said.
PRO’s Director General, Elena Petrova, presented the new visual identity of the respective institution, based on teamwork, dedication, success and progress at the panel discussion organized by the Public Revenue Office. Representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the PRO, the Customs Administration, the Financial Police Office, as well as the business sector, also had their address at the panel discussion.
