10th March 2025, Skopje – Deputy Minister of Finance, Nikolche Jankulovski, joined by Deputy Ministers Marjan Risteski and Viktorija Trajkov, on behalf of the Government, remembered the victims of the Holocaust by placing floral tributes at the monuments of deported Jews from Bitola and the national heroine Estrea Ovadia Mara.

“It is with deep respect and sadness that we remember the 7,144 Macedonian Jews who were forced to leave their homes and deported to Treblinka concentration camp, where their lives were violently ended. We stand united in the heart of Bitola, a city with deep historical roots and multicultural heritage, in memory of this tragedy, but also determined to preserve the remembrance and convey a strong message for the future”, Deputy Minister Jankulovski pointed out.

The Holocaust is a reminder of the horrifying consequences of intolerance, hatred and discrimination, he said, emphasizing that the Government remains committed to fighting anti-Semitism, hate speech and all forms of discrimination.

“We are here today not only to grieve, but also to send a message – we will never allow for such injustice to repeat itself.  We bow to the victims, but also call for the present and future generations to learn from history and build a society based on peace, understanding and solidarity. Never again.”, Jankulovski underlined.
