28th March 2025, Skopje – Public Finance Academy Department within the Ministry of Financed carried out the first training, foreseen under the 2025 Annual Training Programme. The topic of the training reads “Rights and Obligations of State Administration Bodies under the Law on Value Added Tax, with Particular Focus on the Amendments to Article 14 thereof“, intended for the public sector employees, being, in their daily operations, directly concerned by VAT matters and regulations.

Public sector employees are often confronted with challenges related to VAT regulation complexity and compliance therewith. Without adequate training, there is risk of errors in VAT calculations, discrepancies in reporting and potential legal issues. Hence, the purpose of the respective training was for the public sector employees to acquire knowledge and skills necessary for efficient management of VAT-related tasks, particularly as regards the VAT system pertaining to state administration bodies, including also the latest amendments to the Law on VAT.

During the training, the trainers as experts in their respective fields – employees in the Public Revenue, Tax and Customs Policy Department, through presentations and practical examples highlighted the significance of maintaining financial integrity and avoiding repercussions due to failure to comply with the regulations. They significantly contributed to addressing the aforementioned challenges, thereby providing the participants with fundamental understanding of VAT regulations, practical skills for acting in compliance with the Law on VAT and strategies on optimizing tax planning. Training was aimed at improving both efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting processes in the public sector.

Ministry of Finance, via the Public Finance Academy, will remain committed to investing in the continuous education of public sector employees in the field of public finance. Alongside other trainings foreseen under the 2025 Training Programme, ad hoc trainings are also being organized, adjusted to the current needs and challenges the public sector employees face.
