23rd April 2024, Skopje – Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, will take part in the regular Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group held in Washington, starting today until 26th April.
This participation will allow for the Minister to have meetings with high-ranking officials from IMF and WB, whereby she will present the Government’s accomplishments and future plans related to the fiscal policy, along with the public finance management reforms, all to the aim of maintaining macroeconomic stability.
She will convene with the IMF Executive Director, Jeroen Clicq, IMF Director of the European Department, Alfred Kammer, and IMF Mission Chief to Republic of North Macedonia, Annette Kyobe. In addition, meetings are to be held with the representatives of IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department.
The Minister will also meet WB top officials, i.e. the World Bank Group Executive Director Eugene Rhuggenaath, the Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank, Antonella Bassani, World Bank Country Director for the Western Balkans, Europe and Central Asia, Xiaoqing Yu, as well as World Bank Country Manager for Kosovo and North Macedonia, Massimiliano Paolucci.
During her stay in Washington, the Minister will meet with the representatives from U.S. Department of Treasury, as well as multinational cooperations providing financial services, involved in the processes of issuing Eurobonds to our country. The Minister will also participate at the Regional Roundtable for Payment Systems, the focus being placed on the Single Euro Payments Area – SEPA, which our country joined this year.
Spring Meetings are a regular annual event of the World Bank Group and IMF, attended by ministers of finance, central bank governors, business leaders, civil society representatives, academics and the likes, at which issues pertaining to global economy, international development and financial markets are being discussed.
Alongside the Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, the Governor of the National Bank, Anita Angelovska-Bezhoska, will also take part in the Spring Meetings. The delegation representing the country also include the Vice Governors of the National Bank, Ana Mitreska and Fadil Bajrami, as well as the State Secretary with the Ministry of Finance, Andriana Matlioska.
While in the USA, Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimtrieska-Kochoska, visited Chicago to meet with representatives of the Macedonian diaspora from this part of the country.
