23rd April 2025, Skopje – Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, who is currently in Washington attending the IMF/ WB Spring Meetings, considered the projected economic growth of 3.7% as realistic.

” This crisis, despite bringing considerable uncertainty, presents an opportunity for our country to benefit therefrom—particularly by relocating the capacities from the European countries. In other words, capacities in European countries will continue to shut down, as tariffs lead to higher purchase prices. Thus, the European market will seek alternatives to open capacities in regions where cheaper labor force is available.” Although the labor force is no longer cheap in our country as before, it is still lower compared to the European one. “From this perspective, I believe that the 3.7% projection is a realistic forecast,” Minister of Finance said in the press release for our country, upon the publication of the IMF Global Report.

She stressed that while the Government is committed to fiscal consolidation, as requested by the IMF, such changes cannot be made overnight, entailing additional time therefor.

Minister of Finance is participating in the Spring Meetings of the IMF Group and World Bank starting today until the 26th April, where she will hold meetings with top officials from these two international financial institutions, as well as with representatives of the U.S. Department of Treasury.
