Skopje, 31st August 2014 (MIA)- Yesterday, Karpos Municipality officially commissioned the new Square in Vlae. Its opening was officially announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski, Mayor of Karpos Stevco Jakimovski and the President of the Council of Karpos Municipality Saso Lazarovski.
Square is covering an area of 6,500 square meters and it has fountain, new urban equipment and lightening, over 10,000 flower seedlings, 20 benches, children’s play area, dustbins… Municipality has invested around EUR 500,000 for its construction.
Mayor Jakimovski stressed that the square is devoted to the Macedonian swimming legend Atina Bojagi, and it will be named “Delfina” as an association to the movie “Stand up, Delfina” about our most successful marathon swimmer.
– We built the new square due to three reasons. First we wanted to make nice area dedicated to all inhabitants in Vlae settlement, second reason is occupying the space so as to prevent someone to construct buildings thereon in future, and the third reason is our wish to pay tribute to our co-citizen Atina Bojagi, who spent her last years in Karpos, Jakimovski said, apologizing to the citizens of Karpos for the 1-year delay of the construction.
He stressed that in the past period, similar squares were built at “Mlecen Restoran” (Milky Restaurant), “Pedagoska Akademija” (Academy of Pedagogy) and in Karpos 3, promising that similar areas will continue to be built in the municipality.
Deputy Prime Minister Stavreski pointed out that it is his honour to attend the opening ceremony of the square which, as he said, was long-standing request of the inhabitants of Vlae and Karpos.
– I would like to pay compliments to the persons in charge in Karpos Municipality since they put efforts to find funds and realize this Project in relatively hard times when financial resources are never sufficient. This is part of the mosaic being recently built by all of us together, Stavreski said, adding that the building process and the progress of all municipalities in the City of Skopje is significant.
He pointed out that as a Government, so far, they have provided assistance and realized series of significant projects in Karpos Municipality, as well as in other Macedonian municipalities, and he promised that they will provide financial assistance for the realization of other projects in future as well.
– We have agreed with your Mayor to realize projects for reconstruction of several streets and construction of atmospheric sewerage through the Municipal Service Improvement Project, worth EUR 800 thousand. Thereby, streets “Praska” and “Struska” will be reconstructed and atmospheric sewerage at the streets “Ankarska”, “Vlae”, “Bagdadska”, “Alzirska”, “Borka Taleski” and leg of the streets “France Presern” and “Koruska” will be built, Stavreski said.
