Skopje, 19th March 2013 (MIA) – Today, Ministry of Finance paid Denar 1,413.488,426 as subsidies for produced and sold tobacco from 2012 harvest to 22,313 farmers.
Thus, as Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski, said today at the press conference, we have started earlier with the realization of the measure envisaged in the 2013 Program on Financial Support to Agriculture, the final deadline of which is June 2014.
– Government continues to strongly support agriculture, as one of the key business branches, in particular tobacco growing, Stavreski underlined.
Legal deadline for purchase of tobacco by tobacco companies was 15 March, indicating that payment commenced immediately after legal controls had been completed.
According to Stavreski, funds were paid today to primary tobacco producers to tobacco companies “Strumica Tabak” – Strumica, “Alliance One” – Kavadarci, “SOKOTAB” – Bitola, “ORBITA TABAK” – Skopje, “Pasoski Tutunski Diler” – Skopje.
Controls are on going, as he went on, in “Tutunski Kombinat Prilep”, which counts 3,111 primary tobacco producers, “Centro Tabak” with 389 primary tobacco producers and “Dalija Tabak” with 255 primary tobacco producers.
By the end of this week, remaining funds in the amount of Denar 188 million will be paid.
Support is in the amount of Denar 60 per kilogram produced and sold tobacco or EUR 26 million in total for this purpose.
