7th June 2017 – Today, the economic team of the Ministry of Finance met the Delegation of the European Commission headed by the Ambassador of the European Union to Macedonia, Samuel Zbogar.

Future priorities and reforms the Republic of Macedonia needs to implement as regards the European integration process were discussed during this meeting. The EC representatives expressed their support for the reform priorities of the Government to end of integrating the country in the EU.

What was also discussed was improving the coordination, so as to increase the benefits and the usage of the European (IPA) Funds in the country.

Special attention was given to adopting a Public Finance Management Strategy, for which the EC praised the commitments of the Ministry of Finance to adopting this significant document as soon as possible, whereby priority will be given to fiscal consolidation and transparency when publishing the budget data.  In addition, the EC continues to extend its support for starting a new cycle of preparing the Economic Reforms Programme, being one of the crucial documents in the EU accession process of the Republic of Macedonia.

During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed the firm commitment of Macedonia to EU accession.
