31st January 2018, Skopje – Today, Ministry of Finance published the data on the general government and public debt as of December 2017 inclusive.
At the end of 2017, general government debt accounted for 38.7% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while public debt accounted for 46.7% of GDP. Compared to the end of 2016, general government debt is lower by 1 percentage point, while public debt is lower by 1.7 percentage points, which has been the first annual reduction of general government and public debt since 2009. Compared to the third quarter in 2017, general government debt increased by 0.8 percentage points, while public debt picked up by 0.9 percentage points.
