“Former Jugobank Building” will become “Ministry of Finance Building”. Start of the completion of the existing shell was marked today, and it should be finished next year. EUR nine million was allocated from the Budget, and the Slovenian company “Energoplan” will be the contractor.
 
– With an investment worth Denar 550 million, the shell built in distant 1989, will get its fascade in neoclassical style, however with a modern concept of interior design and state-of-the art technology inside the building itself. Its exterior will represent the significance and the tradition of the institution accommodated therein, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski said at the ceremony of the start of the building completion.
 
Symbolically to the neoclassical exterior, as Minister added, Ministry of Finance will consistently implement the classical values of fiscal policy – sound public finance, with low level of budget deficit, low public debt and low taxes in the new building as well. Interior of the building will be modern, with contemporary technology which, symbolically, will be used by modern, creative and highly professional personnel in the Ministry, featuring a lot of knowledge, ideas and work Stavreski said.
 
He pointed out that by completing this building, the problem of having the Ministry of Finance accommodated on different locations, hindering the everyday and efficient functioning will be overcome.
 
Mentioning unpleasant events related to this building, Minister said that its completion will mean greater security for the tenants, as well as for the City of Skopje. According to Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, such undertaking would permanently solve the decades-long problem with the lack of working premises for the Ministry of Finance, while the state would save significant funds for rent of the facilities in which the Ministry operates. – Ministry of Finance is accommodated in business premises at eight different locations, five out of which are under rent, Prime Minister said, adding that by completing the construction of the building, this problem will be overcome and in a year, the new building will become a modern and functionally facility to accommodate the Ministry of Finance, including the Property and Legal Affairs Office, State Foreign Exchange Inspectorate and the Public Procurement Bureau.
 
He added that the completion of this building and completion of the construction of new buildings for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Criminal Court of the Republic of Macedonia, Public Prosecution Office, Constitutional Court, State Archive and Archeological Museum, new concert hall of Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra and series of other capital facilities will provide for proper working conditions for the institutions and their employees. They will contribute to improving quality of services to citizens, thus stimulating and helping the construction sector.
 
Building will cover an area of 14,000 square meters at 11 levels. B The building will be energy most efficient public facility in Macedonia and one of the most modern in the region. The most modern insulation materials, independent airconditioning system for both heating and cooling and use of glass with a high solar transmission coefficient will be embedded. Ministry of Finance building will be in the group of SMART buildings – aimed at energy saving and environment friendly. Modern press center is also envisaged in the building. State-of-the-art server room is also envisaged, designed according to strictest standards, which will provide for smooth and stable functioning of the overall computer system in the Ministry, above all of the Treasury Department and the Budget Department, as vital departments both in the Ministry of Finance, as well as for the payment operations in the country.
 
“Energoplan” Director Stojan Lozar said that this building is not just another modern business facility, but it rather marks the start of new investments and joint business challenges.
 
As he said, the construction works should be completed in the first quarter of 2012.
