In Crnicani village, Dojran municipality, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski, accompanied by Minister of Transport and Communications and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Mile Janakievski and Ljupco Dimovski, formally put part of the local road Crnicani-Bogdanci into operations today.
 
Section long 1.75 km and wide 5 m, the construction of which cost EUR 135,000, was realized with funds under loan from the World Bank in the amount of EUR 120 million for construction of local road infrastructure in Macedonia, and its completion should be realized with funds under EBRD new credit line.
 
– Dojran is one of the municipalities in the Republic of Macedonia which has feature of becoming one of the most developed, however, for many years it was neglected and did not accomplish its development. Now, this is not the case, and efforts are put to improve the economic conditions in the municipality, Vice Prime Minister Stavreski said in his opening speech.
 
He pointed out that part of the efforts aimed at enhancing economic conditions in Dojran municipality include constructions of wells, pedestrian crossing around the Dojran Lake, sports fields, as well as construction of good roads to connect the municipality and support local economic development.
 
Vice Prime Minister promised that putting the local road at Crnicani into operations will not be the last investment in road infrastructure and that the Government will continue reconstructing and building local roads in this municipality.
 
Minister of Transport and Communications Janakievski underlined that improving road infrastructure is one of the main priorities of the Macedonian Government.
 
– In addition to this road, regional road to Star Dojran (Old Dojran) in Dojran municipality will be put into operations in June, and it is expected for the pedestrian crossing around the Dojran lake to be completed before the beginning of the summer season. Concessionaries also promised to additionally arrange the beached in Dojran, Minister Janakievski said, pointing out that it will contribute to tourism development.
 
He promised that the Government, together with Dojran municipality, will realize other projects aimed at improving the life of the citizens in the municipality.
Mayor of Dojran municipality, Gligor Cabulev, underlined that improvement of road infrastructure is one of the bases for development of the municipality.
 
– Putting the local road into operations contributes to shortening the distance to the neighbouring settlements and Dojran municipality and we hope it will lead to accelerated development of the municipality, Cabulev said.(MIA)
