Skopje, 3rd July 2014 (MIA) – Today in Hong Kong, People’s Republic of China, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and the members of the Government delegation held speech at the Business Forum for presenting the advantages the Republic of Macedonia offers to foreign investors for starting and doing business in our country.
The Business Forum is held in cooperation with the Financial Times Group, being attended by representatives of companies engaged in the field of electronics, engineering, telecommunications, transport and logistics and investment funds.
As Government Press Office, Prime Minister Gruevski presented the advantages Macedonia provides to the companies for doing business, focusing on investments in the field of education, providing for adequate and well educated and qualified labour force, lowest costs for doing business, low tax package and advantages offered within the technological and industrial development zones.
In the first ten years, companies located in the technological and industrial development zones are exempted from personal tax and profit tax, regardless of whether the profit was or was not distributed as dividend. In addition, companies in the zones are exempted from VAT and the customs duties on raw materials they invest for the purpose of producing export-oriented goods, Gruevski said in his address before those present.
Presented reforms were positively assessed by the representatives of the companies from Hong Kong. Special interest was shown in the low tax package our country offers to the companies.
– In Hong Kong, the tax is lower compared to the region, however, when we heard that in Macedonia, the salaries tax and profit tax amount to only 10%, than, this is absolutely competitive to a great extent. That is very attractive tax package for attracting foreign investors in our country, Ricky Chau from the Company “Level Group” said.
Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Stavreski referred to the favourable macroeconomic indicators, low inflation, stable exchange rate and GDP growth in the first quarter of the year.
Presentation of the advantages the Republic of Macedonia offers to foreign investors here in Hong Kong is important since Hong Kong in Asia’s financial center and due to the fact that the doing business costs are increasing here, hence large number of companies that want to promote their products on the European markets, are seeking low-cost destinations, and all this is what Macedonia offers, Stavreski said at the Forum.
Companies from Hong Kong are interested in deeper analysis of the opportunities our country offers, and some of them expressed their intention to visit our country.
I believe that by visiting Macedonia, I will get more information about the country, population, geography and about everything that matters the most as regards the economic situation. Thus, I plan to visit Macedonia in future, Djeni Choe, General Manager of “Oriental Overseas” said.
