Skopje, 13th December 2014 (MIA) – Last published statistical data on unemployment reduction and growth of Macedonian economy, according to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski provide for the possibility to definitely confirm the fact that 2014 is successful year in economic terms.

– Unemployment has been reduced to historically the lowest level, i.e. 27.9%, while GDP has experienced 4.1% growth rate, being among the highest three in Europe, Deputy Prime Minister Stavreski said today.

According to him, in conditions when European economy stagnates, this is exceptionally good performance and affirmation that the economic policies are well set. Above all, as he explained, I refer to the budget support the Macedonian business sector receives for realizing major infrastructure projects, by which construction and industry managed to achieve good economic performance, as well as the support under the credit line we provided with subsidized interest rate of 5.5%, under which funds are used by hundreds of Macedonian companies, which helped them realizing good output.

Minister pointed out that this was also a result from the effects of the operations of foreign companies in the free and industrial zones and that these are the policies the Government has conducted for many years, yielding positive results as regards investments, growth of industry and construction and other areas, also contributing to reducing unemployment as key priority of the Government.

– With respect to this, a lot, as he added, remains to be done and we will put efforts for such positive developments to continue in the coming years as well.   We will strive to reduce unemployment and retain the good upward trend of Macedonian economy, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Zoran Stavreski said.
