Skopje, 27th August 2012 (MIA) – There is no a single reason to change the Denar exchange rate since it is still the best currency to save money and will remain stable as long as VMRO-DPMNE conducts the economic policy in Macedonia.

This was pointed out today by Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski, rejecting the information presented at certain Internet portals and social networks that the Denar will devaluate as speculations and lies.

– Officially, on behalf of the Government I deny these speculations. It is a sheer lie which is created to impose psychosis and fear among the population. My message to the population and economy is not to be deceived by such sheer lies. There is not a single reason to change the exchange rate or some realistic economic factor which would justify this, Stavreski said.

According to him, the biggest guarantor for the Denar stability are the international reserves which are currently at the historically highest level amounting to EUR 2.96 billion, being by EUR 820 million more compared to July 2006 when VMRO-DPMNE got the chance to conduct the economic policy and the overall state policy. In addition, he added, there is low level of budget deficit, as well as low level of indebtedness of the country and extraordinary coordination between the monetary and fiscal policy, which together with the stable banking sector provide for stability that the foreign exchange rate will continue to be stable.

He appeals for the citizens and the business entities not to make a mistake and believe in such sheer lies but to rather continue to trust the local currency, to save in Denars, since as he stressed, this provides for the best returns on their savings since the interest rate on Denars is much higher compared to the interest rate on foreign currencies.
