Sveti Nikole, 21st September 2015 (MIA) – Denar 47 million has been invested in reconstruction of the main streets in Sveti Nikole through the Municipal Services Improvement Project. Next year, additional EUR 25 million will be made available to the municipalities for capital project through MSIP.
Reconstruction of two major streets in Sveti Nikole was launched on Monday, being realized with a loan from the World Bank under the Ministry of Finance Municipal Services Improvement Project.
The launching ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski, Mayor Zoran Tasev and MP Blagica Lasovska.
Deputy Prime Minister Stavreski underlined that the Project is Denar 47 million worth, aimed at reconstructing “Krste Misirkov” and “Mladinska” Streets, where 40% of Sveti Nikole population lives.
– We are staring with a capital project, that being the reconstruction of “Mladinska” and “Krste Misirkov” Streets, aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens. This Project is realized with a loan from the World Bank, amounting to Denar 47 million, while the Government contributed to its preparation and approval. I must underline that, so far, 59 projects under MSIP have been realized in around 40 municipalities across Macedonia. So far, EUR 40 million has been distributed to the municipalities for resolving significant infrastructure problems, such as construction of water supply, sewerage systems, renovation of schools, construction of sports halls, etc. By the end of the year, a grant of EUR 20 million would be at disposal to the municipalities, followed by additional EUR 25 million in 2016, aimed at constructing water supply, sewerage systems and realizing other infrastructure projects, Stavreski said.
Mayor of Sveti Nikole Municipality Zoran Tasev pointed out that this is one of the largest projects being realized in Sveti Nikole Municipality.
– Thanks to the Government, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Deputy Prime Minister Stavreski, funds have been provided for implementing one of the largest capital projects aimed at improving the conditions of citizens in Sveti Nikole Municipality. I would like to stress that 122 projects have been promised within our programme, and we added another 20 projects, whereby 90% of the projects are already being realized, i.e. some of them have been launched, while the other ones have already been implemented. So far, projects worth Denar 70 million have been realized in Sveti Nikole Municipality, whereby a big number of obsolete water supply and sewerage networks have been replaced, new atmospheric sewerage networks have been built, and what is most significant for Sveti Nikole, ozone generator for the filter station has been provided, Tasev said.
Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Stavreski and Mayor Tasev also visited the Monastery of the Holy Mother of God in Gubriste area, where they met the citizens therefrom.
