23rd January 2020, Skopje – Exchange of experience and knowledge between the Ministries of Finance of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands continues in the coming two years, aimed at building better public finance system in the country. Minister of Finance, Nina Angelovska, signed the 2020 – 2022 Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation, which was handed over to her by the Netherland’s Ambassador to the country, Dirk Jan Kop, previously being signed by the Netherland’s Minister of Finance, Wopke Hoekstra.

According to the Memorandum, both Ministries will cooperate through exchange of knowledge, experience and information on policies to be implemented. Training programs, study visits, workshops, etc., are envisaged thereunder. Cooperation and transfer of know-how will contribute to building the human capital, while building on information from the experience of others will provide for building an efficient public finance system. 

Minister of Finance Angelovska pointed out that the Netherlands extends very important support to the public finance reforms in the Republic of North Macedonia. Bilateral cooperation between the two Ministries commenced in 2017.

The Netherlands is an important partner to the Republic of North Macedonia in the development reforms in all spheres. Since the country has gained its independence, the Netherlands has allocated funds in the amount of more than EUR 200 million as support for projects in the Republic of North Macedonia.
