11th May 2018, Jordan – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as other investment banks such as the European Investment Bank want to invest in financing the construction of Wind Parks in Miravci and the photovoltaic power plant in Oslomej. This was pointed out by the Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski who took part in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Annual Meetings, being held in Jordan.
– During the meetings, we talked with different international creditors for projects related to renewable energy sources, since the Government’s priority is increasing the share of renewable sources. Two major projects, for which positive signals have already been given by the international investment institutions such as EBRD and EIB, wanting to invest in their realization, are the Wind Power Plant Miravci and the Photovoltaic Power Plant in Oslomej. AD ELEM is already working on intensifying the works and preparing the required documentation, Tevdovski said.
Tevdovski addressed at the Panel “Green Infrastructure”, wherein the benefits from investing in sustainable energy sources and utility infrastructure, were emphasized.
-The benefits therefrom are numerous, those being economic growth, attraction of private investments, job creation, as well as better environment and health – Tevdovski said.
President of EBRD Suma Chakrabarti also delivered a speech at the panel, wherein, Minister of Finance announced another major project.
-It is a matter of the Waste Water Treatment Station Skopje. Project would amount to around EUR 130 million. European Investment Bank, EBRD and KfW confirmed their willingness to participate in the financial plan, whereby we expect for the project tendering to commence next year, Tevdovski said.
Minister of Finance also met the Vice President of EBRD Pierre Heilbronn, as well as the EBRD’s Director for Transport, Power and Energy Director and the Director for Municipal Infrastructure and Environment.
