20th February 2022, Skopje – Starting 20th February until 22nd February 2022, Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi will pay a working visit to Brussels, where he will met EC top officials.

Minister’s discussions with his counterparts will be focused on the North Macedonia’s prospects for EU accession, the expectations from the French Presidency as regards the progress in the process of opening the entry talks, which are currently blocked by Bulgaria, as well as our commitment to continue the dialogue to resolve the open issues, also including the priorities of the Ministry of Finance, which are aimed at strengthening the reform process in the field of public financial management, and the reforms envisaged in the Economic Reform Program, for which the consultation process with the EC has been initiated, as well as the fiscal consolidation.

Topics, which are to be also covered are the energy crisis and the inflation on global level, as well as the measures the country takes in order to cope with the impact therefrom.

During his visit to Brussels, Minister Besimi will meet Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Olivér Várhelyi, EU Commissioner for Economy, Paolo Gentiloni, EU Commissioner for Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, as well as Deputy Director-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission, Maciej Popowski.
