4th March 2022, Skopje – Energy crisis and the economic consequences on the European economy, as well as the strengthening of the economic cooperation with Italy, were the topics covered at the meeting held between Minister of Finance Fatmir Besimi and Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of North Macedonia, Andrea Silvestri.

Reaping the benefits from the existing opportunities for strengthening the economic cooperation between the two countries was stressed at the meeting. Republic of North Macedonia and Italia are NATO allies, whereby Italy, as part of the European family, is expected to support the reforms we are implementing on the path to join the EU.

Priority is given to implementing the reforms related to green transition, energy efficiency, strengthening of human capital, as well as making the investments set under the Intervention Plan on Investments, also including the possibility to finance them with EU support.

Focus being placed on coping with the energy crisis, as will with COVID-19 induced health crisis was also stressed thereat.
