13th July 2023, Washington – Deputy Minister of Finance, Filip Nikoloski, met Alternate Executive Director, Luc Dresse and IMF Mission Chief, Jacque Minian, at IMF headquarters in Washington.
Economic developments and policies in our country were the points of discussion, whereby Deputy Minister Nikoloski stressed the commitment of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia to ensuring a long-term fiscal sustainability.
“Long-term growth and development can be ensured only by having sound public finances in place, thus providing for higher living standard of the citizens. In the coming medium-term (five-year) period, we remain committed to expenditures supporting achievement of strategic priorities, acceleration of economic growth, the EU integration processes of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as fulfilment of the obligations arising from the NATO membership”, Nikoloski pointed out.
Topics covered at the meeting also pertained to the realization dynamics as regards the absorption of the Precautionary and Liquidity Line, ensuring effective protection against a crisis for the IMF member countries, pursing sound economic polices.
During his stay in Washington, Deputy Minister of Finance will also have meetings at WB headquarters, where he will meet the World Bank Group Executive Director, Koen Davidse and the Regional Director for Human Development in Europe and Central Asia, Michal Rutkowski.
