20th July 2023, Skopje – Today, Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi, met with the World Bank Country Director for Wester Balkans, Xiaoqing Yu, and WB Country Manager for North Macedonia, Massimiliano Paolucci. New Country Partnership Framework 2024 – 2028 was the topic discussed at the meeting.

“Cooperation with the World Bank is based on joint partnership and Country Partnership Frameworks. We are entering a preparatory stage of the new Country Partnership Framework. World Bank have prepared analysis, defining the priorities in the coming four years”, the Minister said at the meeting, also expressing his contentment with the continuous support the country has been extended from this international financial institution.

Country Partnership Framework summarizes the areas in which the Bank will provide support for the country’s development agenda. Partnership with the Bank within the new Framework is of crucial importance for the further development of our economy on the road to EU, devising important priority projects of the Government of North Macedonia presented in the national strategic documents.

The Report the World Bank prepared as basis for the new Framework, North Macedonia Systematic Country Diagnostics, was also presented to the Government of North Macedonia. Objective of the new Framework is to achieve an inclusive, sustainable and green growth. It will incorporate Government’s priorities reflected in the national strategic documents and the Growth Acceleration Plan, which includes the key reforms jointly adopted with the EU.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Finance, status of the implementation of Government’s reform activities that will be supported under the Development Policy Operations for budget support was also discussed.
