31st August 2018, Skopje – Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski met Bert Koenders, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Macedonia, Willem Wouter Plomp.
Opportunities for deepening the cooperation among both countries were discussed at the meeting.
Both parties concluded that there was room to expand the economic cooperation, implement new projects and make new investments.
Foreign trade with The Netherlands in the first six months amounted to Denar 5.8 billion, being by 20% higher than last year. Thereby, export in this period grew by 23%, amounting to Denar 2.5 billion. It is expected for the foreign trade to increase in the coming period.
Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski underlined that the Netherlands provides a very significant support for the reforms carried out in the field of public finance in the Republic of Macedonia.
Fiscal transparency, which was significantly increased in the past period, was also emphasized.
Last month, Ministries of Finance of Macedonia and the Netherlands signed 2018-2019 Bilateral Cooperation Program, under which cooperation among both ministries is agreed.
Trainings, transfer of knowledge and experience, consultations for medium-term budgeting, debt management, tax policy and public internal financial control are envisaged under this Bilateral Cooperation Program.
So far, the Netherlands has allocated funds in the amount of around EUR 150,000,000 as support for projects in the Republic of Macedonia.
Dutch Embassy provides financial support of around EUR 1.2 million to the Republic of on annual basis, being focused on the democracy and the rule of law.
RM belongs to the group of countries that share Dutch Constituencies at the World Bank, IMF and EBRD. Dutch Constituency Executive Director represents the interests of the member states thereof.
